The other five require searching the surroundings for hidden pieces of cheese with the Game Boy Horror. Their locations are:
  1. In the room with the first Portrait Ghost, look behind the desk.
  2. In the dining room, look under the chairs.
  3. In the 2nd dining room (ice bucket), look near the back wall behind the table.
  4. In the room with the fortune teller, look behind her chair.
  5. In the trophy room on the third floor, look behind the chairs.
(The Golden Mice can only be caught before the lights come on in a room.)
Cheats, Codes & Unlockables
Hidden Mansion
Complete the game once to unlock the Hidden Mansion. In this hard mode, all ghosts have more HP, but you have a more powerful Poltergust. In the PAL version, the Hidden Mansion is also mirrored, and all of the boss stages have been made much harder.

Hidden Mansion (PAL)
One of the main complaints with Luigi's Mansion was that, after completion, the "Hidden Mansion" mode offered very little additional challenge. The ghosts had twice the health, but the Poltergust had twice the strength, so the challenge was the same as the regular mansion.

Shigeru Miyamoto, director of the game, addressed this problem in time for the release of the PAL version. He oversaw some large changes to the Hidden Mansion that actually made it a harder game, as well as some unnecessary changes. There is the mirroring of the mansion, where everything is now backwards (including the "L" on Luigi's hat).

But best of all were the harder Boss characters. Where the first boss, Chauncey attacked you with rocking horses and balls, you now have to dodge swerving and unpredictable rocking horses, and even more balls. The battle against Boolossus was made harder by having Luigi ride on top of the Poltergust 3000.
Cameos & Easter Eggs
Mario in the Portrait
In order for Luigi to catch a glimps of his lost brother, Mario, he must travel down a secret underground pathway. Head to the door which leads you to the Court Yard (1F Northwest), walk to the center of the of the area to find the Well. At the bottom of the well there will be a small passage way. Go through it to look through an opening of a Bowser sculpture, Luigi will then see Mario trapped inside of a golden-framed portrait!

The Music Room
The Music Room is filled with various instruments; activating them all by knocking on them will play the classic Super Mario Bros. theme, while causing the portrait ghost, Melody Pianissima to appear. It is then that she will play the underwater theme from the original Super Mario Bros, and then ask what the song is (The answer is "water"). Afterwards she will play another song and ask what game it is from, the song is the 1-2 theme from Super Mario Bros. 3.
