Nintendo wanted to send its Super Nintendo out with a bang, and give a preview of the possibilities for the forthcoming Nintendo 64. Nintendo teamed up with Square (now Square Enix) to deliver a new type of Mario gaming experience. This Mario project guided by Shigeru Miyamoto and developed by Square, came to be known as Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

The game offers an amazing gameplay experience combining elements of an RPG game with the large world of the Mario Universe. Mario once again has rescued Peach from Bowser, however a new evil has come and taken over the Mushroom Kingdom, using Bowser's Castle as their base of operations. Mario and Peach must team up with an upset Bowser, as well as two new companions, Geno and Mallow. It's up to them to save the Mushroom Kingdom from these new and unknown foes.
