This puzzle game, starring Mario and Yoshi, was released alongside the Nintendo Entertainment System version in Japan, North America, and Europe.
The objective of the game is to clear the screen of all cookies. To do so, you must match a whole row or column of the same kind of cookies. Move the cursor with the control pad and hold the A Button. While holding, press left, right, up, or down to shift the row or column that the cursor is within. When a row or column of matching cookies is formed, they are removed from the screen, and points are rewarded. Any subsequent rows/columns made from the same move will receive bonus multipliers (x2, x4, x8, x16, etc). Obviously, the more cookies the row/column consists of, the more points it's worth. If a row/column is connected to a Yoshi Cookie, all adjacent alike cookies will be removed with it, resulting in big points.
The game consists of three modes: Action, VS, and Puzzle.
In Action, you must go through 10 rounds, each round having 10 stages. Before beginning, the player can choose what round to start on, what music to play, and how fast the cookies fall. Upon clearing a round, the player will view a humorous cutscene involving Mario.
VS Mode pits two players (or a player with a CPU) in a match to keep a lit fuse higher before it runs out by clearing rows of 5 cookies against the opponent. If you get 5 Yoshi Cookies in a row, you might get a special, like obscuring the opponent's screen or controlling the opponent's field.
In Puzzle, you must clear the field with a limited number of moves. There are easy puzzles and difficult ones. |
